Trends and Realities—A Unique Opportunity for Community Foundations

Monday, September 23, 2-3:30 p.m.

Upon returning from your Learning Tours, join colleagues in a highly interactive plenary led by Dr. Manual Pastor. This plenary will leverage your skills and talents. First, Dr. Pastor will engage you in a dialogue about your Learning Tour experiences. Share what you learned and as well engage in a deeper conversation about how your experiences relate to your own work and the field of community foundations. With this research as a foundation, you will have an opportunity to discuss these trends with your colleagues as well as begin thinking of the implications for your work.

What's Next for Community Philanthropy

Tuesday, September 24, 8-10 a.m.

What will the coming years have in store for community philanthropy? As the centennial anniversary of the community foundation model approaches in 2014, the Monitor Institute is leading a year-long innovation and design process to help community foundations think creatively about their futures. In this plenary session, Gabriel Kasper of the Monitor Institute will lead an interactive conversation about how the world is changing around community foundations, what those shifts might mean for communities and for philanthropy, and how funders and others are already responding. Engage in a dialogue with your peers as we challenge old assumptions about how community foundations work and imagine what might be next for community philanthropy.

Speaker: Gabriel Kasper, Monitor Institute
