In addition, the highly requested Bryan Clontz will be returning with three sessions this year during AdNet days on Saturday. CommA members will be joining AdNet members for one of Bryan Clontz' sessions on the “27 things that drive him nuts about Community Foundations.” You won't want to miss these sessions that have been scheduled in addition to the invaluable networking that is always a favorite. In almost 2,000 miles of border from the Pacific to the Gulf, more than 14 million people make their homes, their lives, and their communities making San Diego - Tijuana the busiest border crossing in the entire world. On the U.S. - Mexico Border, one thing is clear to anyone who looks. Both sides depend on each other and the dependence is so great that the notion of "sides" is almost inaccurate.
Join the U.S.-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership (BPP), The San Diego Foundation, and the International Community Foundation for an exciting summit examining environmental and public health issues in the binational region. The summit includes a funders-only exclusive tour of the U.S.-Mexico border fence not open to the general public. The tour will be guided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) who will lead us on a 2.5 hour tour of the secure area of the border fence, Friendship Park, Monument Mesa, and Border Field State Park. BPP and DHS officials will showcase the unintended consequences of a more secure border, and our local community partners will highlight the environmental and public health challenges facing the region. Following the tour, gather at the Tijuana River Estuary Visitor Center in Imperial Beach, CA for a networking reception with environmental and public health leaders serving the region, and a brief presentation on the State of the Border Report 2013.
The Summit continues on Thursday with two dynamic panel discussions dedicated to advancing a dialogue and catalyzing solutions in response to the growing needs, challenges, and issues of the region.

The conference is made possible with funding support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Border Environment Cooperation Commission, San Diego Gas and Electric, and Sempra International.
The Summit will take place immediately following the Council on Foundations' Fall Conference for Community Foundations in San Diego, CA September 25-26. The summit will be held in the U.S. side of the border on Wednesday, September 25th and at the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel on Thursday, September 26th.
